Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!

It's going to be a great year for the students and staff at RVMS. We have made some
exciting changes within the school and I have made some fun changes in my classroom.

Although I met most of you briefly during the tour, I'm looking forward to actually getting
to know you & your families a lot better. We're going to have so much fun learning together!

This website is to
keep you and your families up-to-date on what's going on in the classroom, what's coming up,
XP opportunites, classroom policies, links to resources and lots of other goodies!

About Me, Miss Martin

I love kids and I love teaching!

I began my Round Valley adventure 8 short years ago. Prior to that I lived in NY and worked in retail for 25 years.
I have a Bachelor's degree in education and a Master's in English as a Second Language (ESL)

My one & only daughter is a vet tech in Virginia. She's an amazing person and I am very proud of her. Her name is Mika.

Like many of the folks around here, I love the outdoors; hiking, photographing plants and wildlife, exploring
Native American ruins, canyons, mountains, and kayaking are among some of my favorites.

I taught science here in Round Valley for 5 years and then moved into the Title I Math position for 3 years.
This year, I will return to the general education math classroom.

I can't wait to meet hear all about you!!!

Google Classroom

In addition to the work we do in the classroom, I will be using Google Classroom as a platform for you to complete and submit work. If you want to peek ahead, or, perhaps, redo an assignment, you can access that through GC. If you are absent, you can use Google Classroom to keep up. This is NOT a requirement; if you are sick, you should rest and recover. You will get a hard copy of the work you missed when you return to school.

Snapshot of a Typical Day

  • Warm Up - 3 to 5 minutes - skills practice
  • Stations/Centers: 2/day of each of the following:

                     Meet with the Teacher
                     Math Games & Activities
                     Technology

Independent Work Station

  • Reflection on student learning (closure/exit ticket)

While this is what most days will look like, it does vary from time to time, as there are days
when we have whole group lessons, unit tests, benchmarks, reviews, and other activities.
